A New Platform for New Memorie

The horrendous 2011 earthquake left deep scars in Japan’s
collective memory. And trauma is a form of remembering. As
this exhibition shows, artists have been endeavoring to come
to terms with this trauma—and presumably will continue to
do so for years to come.

Dolls are an established part of Japanese culture and
tradition. They’re often said to have greater expressive
capabilities than human beings. Supporting testimony to this
effect is provided by virtual singer Miku Hatsune and the
techno-pop group Perfume with choreography on the basis
of motion-capture data.

With works by Google Maps 8-bit team (JP), IDPW (JP),
Daito Manabe & Mikiko & Yasutaka Nakata & Satoshi Horii & Hiroyasu Kimura (JP),
Nukeme (JP), Yuki Sano (JP), rrrrrrrroll (JP),
